The Lake Clarke Shores Police Department Citizens on Patrol Program

The Lake Clarke Shores Police Department is accepting applications for our Citizens on Patrol (COP) program.  We at the department strive to give the residents of the Town the best service possible and partnering with residents and having them be part of the COP as an extra set of eyes and ears is an additional way to keep our Town safe. Now that we have begun to return to normal we will begin accepting applications for positions.

COP members will be required to provide availability so they can be scheduled for ride times. There will be monthly training/meetings and members will need to be available to assist with Town functions. This program is not to be confused with other volunteer programs associated with the Town. COP members will provide high visibility patrol and report activity to patrol units.

Requirements to be eligible for the COP are:

  1. Must be a United States Citizen.
  2. Must have a valid Florida driver’s license.
  3. Must not have had received two moving traffic citations in the last three years.
  4. Must be 21 years of age and live in the Town of Lake Clarke Shores.
  5. Must successfully undergo a background check, including criminal history.
  6. Must successfully complete an interview with the coordinator.
  7. Pass a drug screen.
  8. Pass a level 1 FCIC/NCIC exam.
  9. Commit to at least four hours of service.
  10. Able to wear an assigned uniform.
  11. Able to submit availability for scheduling. We assign the ride times.
  12. Attend monthly training/meetings when required.

The department is excited about this new chapter of the COP and looks forward to meeting new applicants. If you have any questions regarding the program contact Asst. Chief Sal Abruscato at sabruscato@lakeclarke.org or at 561-331-4683.
